5 Steps to Safety

Half day classroom session and practical in-vehicle training course for drivers and passenger assistants of minibuses, coaches and buses which will equip them with the theoretical and the practical knowledge on how to safely evacuate a passenger carrying vehicle in the event of fire and emergency on board a vehicle.

This course will enable drivers and passenger assistants to:

• Understand and recognise common cause of vehicle fires
• Learn to reduce the risks of vehicle fires
• Take practical steps when dealing with a vehicle fire
• Safely evacuate a passenger carrying vehicle
• Complete trailer checks before each journey
• Manage vulnerable or disabled passengers in an evacuation
• Manage the emergency until help arrives
